We have taken the time to answer some of the most frequently asked questions
please feel free to call and ask anything we haven't covered.
Q: Are these REAL CSL headers?
A: Direct from Germany these are OEM BMW CSL headers from BMW.
Q: Is there a difference between CSL and Euro-Headers?
A: YES! The air flow rates are significantly better with OEM CSL vs OEM Euro.
Most companies sell the Euro header used on Euro M3's pre 2005. After 2005
BMW uses the CSL header on it Euro (non-CSL) M3 models as because of its favorable
flow characteristics.
Q: What happens to my cats when I remove my existing headers?
A: OEM headers have the cats welded onto them; if you remove them then you
will need to replace those cats to stay smog compliant. If you choose to
use a section 1 or “S-pipe” then your vehicle will no longer be compliant
with emission regulations.
Q: Do I need software with headers?
A: Yes, you have changed the engines exhaust flow by widening the airs ability
to leave the engine. In order to take advantage of this it strongly suggested
that software always be tied to this type of modification. It is unlikely
you will see any benefit from the improved airflow characteristic unless
you properly match the ECU programming to the headers AND any additional
modifications. Should you decide the remove the cats you will get “Check Engine Light” if
you don't install the appropriate software.
Q: What kind of results will I see?
A: Typically with a good intake, headers back system and D/A
Race software your results will bring an instant smile each time
you step on the throttle. Depending on whether you decide to
remove the cats, you will likely see crank HP gains between 20-30hp,
in addition to better throttle response and drivability in the
midrange.
