BackThe Other Woman: Phase One

Phase One

Now with "The Other Women" came something that we have never before received; a wonder single serving of imported Cognac and a hand blow glass from Norway to pour it into with a request from her owner to have a drink with his "Lady Friend" while introducing myself. Well there is no doubt that I always feel connected to and get close to the gals and yet this made for a very special moment in time.

Here is the toast and personal introduction.

With the toast and in the introduction behind us now it is time to get up close and personal and begin the process of massaging her. Initially a great deal of time was spent inspecting her from stem to stern; the request was made to make sure that she be far more than simply great looking but mechanically and physically sound throughout. In a very careful and methodical manner this was completed and the closer we looked the better she looked; it is very obvious that this is truly a "Kept Women".
Here, one of the significant pieces of hardware arrived; this is the dark side aka the "Black Magic Women" hardware soon to integrated after which their lives will be forever changed.

Here the very careful and methodical process of removing her OEM supercharging is being tended to. A great amount of protective tape and blankets are used throughout this process so as to insure that no secondary damage is caused.

Here her OEM supercharger has been removed and has been placed next to the huge Black Whipple supercharger. When the new Whipple is integrated we use all new OEM gaskets and seals so as to insure that there are no leaks thus promoting a long trouble free service life.

Here a set of the custom OEM style billet aluminum clamshell vents that will replace the OEM plastic clamshell vents.

Here the clear bra that she arrived with is being removed and then we will clean and prepare the surfaces as we will then will comprehensively wrap her high risk areas; that which was on her when she arrived afforded only modest protection.

During her stay with us we were ask to detail her; meaning if we found a blemish to tend to it so that once she traveled home she was truly as new only better. In this case there was an ever so slight ding in the driver door as such we removed the interior trim panels to create the needed access so that a master panel manipulator could massage the dent out so that so body or paint work would be needed.

[ View Pictures ]
Here the master panel manipulator is performing his magic; as a team he and the "Black Magic Women" got along just fine and once completed one could sense that she was happy.

As the project unfolds the kept women keeps receiving wonderful gifts during which time we continue to methodically work through the project tending to such items as the removal of the OEM plastic clamshell vents that are notorious for warping and cracking and in their place will be the extremely cool CNC machined billet aluminum vents that appear and fit as if OEM. Speaking of wonderful gifts; we just received the wonderful Penske suspension system as created by Alex aka T&A Shocks as such the integration of the Penske system will begin.
Here the plastic OEM clamshell vents have been removed as we await the custom CNC machined billet aluminum vents to be returned by the painter.

Here are the wonderful Penske shocks; certainly they are eye candy and chassis jewelry and yet the improvement in ride quality and handling is shared as "phenomenal" by all that have had the system integrated into their gal.

[ View Pictures ]
Here is one of the OEM shocks as removed; a functional and quality OEM assembly as created by Multimatic however it is a far cry from the machined aluminum bodied adjustable Penske system soon to be integrated.

Here we have carefully removed the OEM front shocks and now in their place is the wonderful Penske system.

[ View Pictures ]
Here is a picture of the damper spring that we special order for all of the Penske systems that we integrate into the Ford GT's. Its purpose is to insure that the spring never comes lose and cause secondary noise as it flops around the perch during those moments when the suspension is unloaded.

[ View Pictures ]
Now before we can integrate the rear Penske system we first must prepare and paint the upper shock mounting points. The reason for this is because the OEM shock mounting flange is considerably larger when compared to the Penske shock's mounting flange as such if this area were not paint then in our opinion it would look less than detailed; maybe better put, the area would appear as a black bulls-eye and likely would become the focal point rather than the wonderful Penske suspension.

With the prep and paint work completed the wonderful rear Penske suspension has been integrated.

Once we have the gal back on her own feet again we will allow the Penske suspension system settle after which final ride height adjustments and suspension alignment will be tended to.
With this gal we have numerous phases of the total project being tended to simultaneously such as the creating of the custom traction control harnesses in preparation of them being integrated, the integrating of the controls within the OEM steering column, integrating the cool carbon fiber/leather center console cubby created by Kip and at the same time installing the wonderful Ford Racing short shifter.
Here we are creating the primary custom traction control harnesses that will be integrated between her arse and her front boot area; within in this bundle there is in excess of 550' of wire in all the colors of the rainbow and several gauges and once created are then sheathed in an OEM style mesh material.

[ View Pictures ]
Here we are creating some of the many custom wiring harnesses as associated with the custom traction control system. These particular custom wiring harnesses will be located within her boot area.

[ View Pictures ]
Here is the custom bracket and clutch switch assembly that will be integrated as a component of the custom traction control system; this magnetic switch when used with the extremely high gauss magnetic will bring the launch control and full throttle shifting feature on line.

[ View Pictures ]
Here we are slowly and methodically integration the custom wiring harnesses, the switch gear, and LEDs into the OEM steering shroud. We create all of the custom wiring harnesses and then integrate the systems in such a manner that creates an OEM look and feel while also insuring that the ease of future service remains. The control knob is located so as to be out of the way and yet easy to access so that quick and easy adjustments to the custom traction control system's slip percentage can be tended to on the fly. The Led is a bi-color Led that will provide a red light to indicated whether the custom traction control system is on/off line and then when/if the wheels slip an amber light will flash making the operator aware of what is taking place.

[ View Pictures ]
Here we are preparing to install one the very nice Ford Racing short throw shifters. Prior to beginning this phase we carefully protect all of the exposed at risk surfaces so as to insure that no secondary damage is caused during this process.

[ View Pictures ]
Here we are integrating the cool carbon fiber/leather center console cubby as created by Kip; this has to be one of the coolest personal touch items that these gals can receive. The process is one that requires that great care be taken so as to insure that no secondary damage is caused to the painted surfaces. We mark the area to be removed and then use low tack blue tape to define the cut line; the reason for the low tack tape is to make certain that we do not lift paint from the OEM magnesium center console when the tape is removed. Then we completely wrap the OEM magnesium center console with another low adhesion white paper tape and then finally we used many layers of duct tape (this is placed over the previous low tack tape and not the painted surfaces) around the cut line so as to insure that no cosmetic damage is inadvertently caused. The time spent preemptively insures a truly integrated carbon fiber/leather cubby with no secondary damage caused during the many steps required to properly complete the integration process.
