Testarossa

Testarossa

This gal aka "Testarossa" is as her name implies a redhead. Initially this gal, a boyhood dream was born out of good old fashioned American sweat equity aka hard work; in this case the years of hard work created the basis for this dream to be realized however even though she is a dream realized it was not long before his dream needed more detail added. This in much the same way that a fiction writer creates a story over time her owner constantly further defined his dream however making sure never to lose sight of her roots; he wants to personalize rather than change her. There have been a laundry list of typical items integrated thus far such a "huge" polished Whipple supercharger drawing her air through an AccuFab throttle body and speaking through the custom D/A and Fischer Motorsport exhaust system giving her both the heart and voice of a lion, a Ford Racing short shifter allowing her to sprint even quicker with an engraved ivory shifter ball on top reminiscent of days gone past, Kip's cool carbon fiber/leather center console cubby and stunning carbon fiber instrument surround and from this his dream and her place in his life continued to evolve.

To a person there is no doubt that she is "in your face flame thrower red" as such it seemed appropriate that a pair of custom powder coated red valve covers should be put in place as they would tie her heart to her body thus creating her name Testarossa and then add to this a set of custom HRE wheels were created and then fitted with sticky Michelin rubber and at the same time Alex's aka T&A Shocks custom single adjustable Penske suspension was integrated which certainly improved her ride quality and her ability to be danced through the corners but even more so it allowed her to be lowered and in doing so her ride height adjusted so that she looked as in her owner's dream.

Stem to stern it is obvious that she is a kept women; perfect in every sense with subtle personal touch details throughout and yet there is no doubt that she is appreciated as originally created and exercised as designed. It is as the result of this that prior to her leaving we will methodically prepare her surfaces and then complete a comprehensive clear bra wrapping of her exposed at risk areas so as to insure that she weathers the test of time when in the real world as she is not a garage queen.

Initially she came to visit us to have D/A's custom traction control system integrated; the system is multifaceted with the fully adjustable on the fly traction control being the primary feature however incorporated into the system are full throttle shifting and launch control allowing her to be exercised at an even more extreme level with safety features aka peace of mind. Now since she arrived the project as so many grew with us now also removing her heart so that a more aggressive set of cams can be installed during which we will also remove her heads and do comprehensive porting and different valves so that she will breath even better resulting in more torque and horsepower however the primary goal for this process is to have her sound akin to a "Cammer Motor" from days gone past.

There is no doubt that one's "Dream Realized" is food for the Soul

Sidenote: I have had the opportunity to work on every single Ford GT that has been at our facility. I can honestly say this is the first one that stopped me dead in my tracks. She is simply stunning. - Sean

Phase One
Long before the mechanics of a project unfolds the process of getting to know the gals takes place which is what we about to do.

Phase Two
It was at this point that the decision was to made to remove her heart and install a more aggressive set of cams. It is during this process that John aka AccuFab will work with us because in addition to installing alternate cams as created by John her heads will be fully massaged with them being initially CNC ported and then the ports will be hand finished, new valves and guides, and then when reassembled ARP 2000 head hardware will be used. In addition while she is a part ungraded cam chains and guides will be installed and her crank will be modified to accept a larger diameter bolt thus insuring that a future harmonic balancer failure is less likely.

Phase Three
Now that we have her heart out we will move forward with the integrating of D/A's custom traction control system. The process to integrate the system which includes the creating of the many custom wiring harness is in excess of 40 hours. Because we integrate rather than add on we open/unsheathe many of the OEM wiring harnesses and then incorporate the custom wiring harnesses within and then rewrap them so as to appear as if never touched.

Phase Four
Now we will be completing the integration of the custom under the dash traction control wiring harness during which we will also be associating the custom wiring harness with the customized OEM steering shroud which will now be the control and information center for D/A's custom traction control system.

Phase Five
Now we are going to complete the integrating of D/A's custom traction control system within her engine bay. This requires that we unsheathe the OEM primary engine harness so that we add a couple additional wires and at the same time we need to make a change to the way that the OEM injectors and coils are brought on line.

Phase Six
As we prepare to put her heart back into place the final detailing of her engine bay is being tended to.

Phase Seven
Now we will begin the very methodical and at times tedious processes associated with placing her heart back into position. One of our primary requirements is that once completed it does not appear as if her heart was ever removed; meaning no secondary damage cosmetic or otherwise can be caused during the processes.

Phase Eight
We have been busy carefully tending to one secondary system at a time as we methodically prepare this gal for another season of being exercised.

Phase Nine
We continue to tend to the final hardware integration as well as detailing items as associated with this project.

Phase Ten
Now that we have brought her back to life and have completed a comprehensive systems check with no issues we will now complete the assembly of her interior and then tend to any remaining final details before we place her back on her tires so we can move her under her own power into the clean room for the next phase of this project.

Phase Eleven
The day for this gal to meet her owner; this after several months has arrived and as we observed during this act there was no doubt that it was a wonderful moment in time.

Phase Twelve
With the snow melted where this gal lives it is now time to send her home; it was a wonderful project with the highlight being when her owner came out and spent several days with her and other Ford GT owners exercising her while it was snowy and cold at their home.

Brought to Life I
Here she is being brought to life for the first time; actually this is the first time she is being allowed to run for an extended period of time as we have already brought her to life a couple times for brief moments and then did another comprehensive inspection and now she is being brought up to normal operating temperature. She sounds as if from days gone past with her fresh custom ground cams thanks to John aka AccuFab making it very clear that she is not your average Ford GT.
